Sudan: In Memory, In Resistance, In Solidarity Reading List

To support the launch of We Are Here: Sudanese Girls and Youth Hold Their Ground in Resistance and Remembrance, a digital documentation project exploring the experiences of girls and young people in Sudan since the outbreak of war in April 2023, we have compiled this selection of recommended reading material and resources in English, Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, and French.

The list covers Sudan’s history and current sociopolitical context, as well as the lived experiences of women and gender-diverse individuals. Rooted in and centring Sudanese voices, it brings together a wealth of knowledge, political analysis, storytelling, art, research and organising practices.

Stand alongside this resistance. Amplify Sudanese voices. Take action!

This is an evolving, growing list, and we invite you to contribute to it. Contribute by filling out this form or emailing us at kn**********@******************es.org.
